92 gauges into an 85

have bought a 92 dash to replace my cracked 85 dash, had thought about modifying somehow to accept the 85 cluster but i think it will be more work than its worth. has anyone done this swap or something similar to it? i know i am going from cable to vss and that is not a problem, my dilema is , how much is the pin placement going to change and also , there is a yellow box on the back of the 85 cluster that has me confused, i have not really looked at it much but all i can gather is that it is a speed sensor for the 700r4 to control lock up, but like i said that is just a guess

no your not going from cable to vss, your going from cable to electric.

my cable speedo still has a vss.

but ya its a lot of work, if your not good at wiring things up.

but ive never done a swap like this.

yes i like to think i am good at wiring things up, as that is what my job is, im an installation manager at my stereo shop so i think i know what im doing, just curious as to see if anyone has done the swap
