hey dont knock the bandbass i just put 2 alumapro bp-12 encloseures in my gf's rshttp://www.alumapro.com/ and they sound pretty dam good no matter what kind of music ur listning to, thesse are also the best dam bandbass enclosures ive ever heard 2, they do deliver a nice solid punch thpuigh not as strong as one as u would get with a sealed box but its still alot better then any bp box ive ever heard

To complete the suck ass system of the month club.. I got it for free but I can't find my camera,, Umm the Head unit is a Sony Xplod MX 630? Fold down face.. The Amp is a Rockford Fosgate, and the Subs are two 8" MTX's.. And I kept my trunk space as well,, the boxes sit on the ledge of the trunk and the amp is in the middle... Hey can't complain.. Only thing is I can't find Flame red carpet..

EDIT BY KURUPTGTA: Please re-upload your pictures so they'll appear as thumbnails. Thanks! :)

Sony stuff sucks ass. I remember once a long time ago they were decent but everything that I've touched since then is not worth the brand name.

I'm suprised a brand line made by the japanese can suck so bad.

I don't like bandpass. Basicly what they're trying to sell you are subs firing off of a load board that flexes...and has ports.

The idea around the bandpass box is a good idea, but when plexiglass is used (so you can see your subs and wiring) it defeats the purpose. The board flexing is actually absorbing the bass instead of reflecting it. Doesn't make much sense to me...

I don't like ports, I think they sound messy and I don't really see the reason behind them. If you want SPL, go with a sealed load board box. If you want SQ go with a regular sealed box.

To each their own.

well u are right about the bandpass box. a bandpass tends to be more boomy bass then a hard hit, they are ok for spl but a reg ported box is best for spl,a sealed box gives u the best punch and fastest bass responce, though a sealed box takes more power to achive the same volume as a ported box, what to use really depends on ur music taste, sealed is best for sound quality and rock type music, bandpass sounds best with mostly rap/hiphop type music/and a ported box is a decent all around box for anykind of music, only reason's we went with 2 bandpass encoulsures is cause, 1. after the roll cage is installed we lose use of the back seat anyway,2. everyone has the same dam box in a camaro since u really cant do anythng diff, ive almost got the install done now i still need to make 2 fiberglass trim pannels and carpet all the fill in panels i made. speaking of wich i have 2 days before my gf shows the car off at the car show at the swap meet on sunday once its done ill post a pic,and the reason for going with the alumapro encloousures and subs is 1. the cones are made of aluminum- very rigid light cones= less distortion and they help cool the voice coils by acting liek a heat sink,2. the boxes are very well designed they use areo ports instead of just plain old 4 inch ports think the ports are tuned to 60 hz id have to check again,3. the alumapros dont need alot of power to achive maximum volume/spl though i do run both 12's off a single 900 watt rockford class d 301m amp supposed to be 300 watts rms @2 ohms peak 900 but it actually puts out 452 rms @2 ohms and just over 950 watts@2 ohms peak which actually is way over the recomend power range, and i have never had a prob with them ok well thats not entirerly true frew months ago one of them had blown the con out of the basket9 more or less it just seperated from the spider not actually come completely un attached from the basket though, to bad i couldnt take a high quality audio recording in the car with the system playing, tried once but the bass just overkills the mic and sounds liek ass when u play it on the comp

KuruptGTA
09-23-2005, 11:37 PM
950 watts at 2ohms peak and only 452rms at 2ohms? :squint:

Those stats seem a little off. At what voltage was the peak power measured?

Lethalrides2k3
09-23-2005, 11:40 PM
@14.4 it could be off though but thats what the sheet that came with the amp said, ive nwever actually had the amp bench tested. but i see no reason for the sheet to be wrong, every rockford amp comes with one and ive never seen 2 sheets the same even from the same model amp

KuruptGTA
09-23-2005, 11:40 PM
And...

If they don't need a lot of power to reach full "volume or spl," why are you running them at a competition.

Volume has nothing to do with SPL, SPL is all how fast/hard your movin' that cone and how much pressure you can build up in that small space. That's why our cars suck for SPL competitions...they're leaky.

KuruptGTA
09-23-2005, 11:41 PM
oh. It's a rockford amp.

:kiki:

Good luck!

KuruptGTA

Then you've never seen PPI? ;)

All joking aside, good luck with the competition. I give people shit to weed out the dumbasses from the actual audiophiles.

old audiobahn = poop.

new audiobahn = teh win.

I'm with you on alpine. They're super clean and I love 'em for mids and highs...the bass end though...

I like my bass like I like my sammiches, sloppy and...hard?

agh man the system sounded so friggen good with the alpine amp for then the day after the car show i lost the subs, fucking so im checking make sure the amp is on, yup, check rca's,yup, pull the head unit check wiring everything good, yup, turn the radio back on and the subs come back on,ok cool well 5 mins later they go out again, amps not hot,no error on the display,so anyway i hook back up the rf amp and no probs till about 1 day later i blow one of the alumapros( though i thought it sounded kinda funny when i got the rockford amp hooked back up the day before) so i pull the alumapros out and install 2 cadence flash 12's rehook the alpine and havent had a prob since, but was wondering do the alpine amps have some sort of protection that they shut down when u fry a sub? i had them wired in parralel thats the only thing i can think of that was making the amp cut in and out cause it works fine now and i havent changed anything, oh and can somone remind me what "tcr" is on an alpine amp, thats the only setting i didnt know what it is and dont have access to the dam manul right now , hopefully the replacement alumapros will be in before the audio comp this weekend, if not im going with the cadences but if the alumapros come in im gonna run them with the alpine amp, and the cadences in a reg camaro box in the back with the rockford amp oh yeah ill have pics after this weekend when i use up the rest of the roll of film

You fried a voice coil from the sounds of it. There's no protection circuit in Alpine or any other amps for a blown voice coil. As far as the amp's concerned, it's doing it's job. It'll continue to pump juice into the sub until it either fries the sub completely, or fries itself. Run some Type R's man, you'll be so fucking happy you'll shit. :)

If I remeber right the TCR has something to do with the levels of your EQ.

i was looking into some alpine type x's but that would involve a whole system redsign though it looks like its comming down to that and yeah i fried a vc on one of the alumapros pretty sure not having the subsonic filter hooked up had something to do with it usually i set it around 30 hrtz to play it safe specially since the bp enclosurse arnt that loud that low they like around 40-75hrtz i may just get one jlw7 13 and build one huge box were the bandfbass encoulusers are and run an crossfire 2000d foir an amp for the sub but then id have to get an amp for mids highs since the alpine and rockfo9rd amps are both mono sub amps and the old school soundstream 4 chan amp i have for mids/highs just isnt cutting it anymore, only thing im afriad of is that there wont be enough airspace for a w7 13 ima have to look into that some more though from what i hear the alpine x is supposedly close to the w7 and requires less airspace so i should prolly be able to run 2 alpine x's vs one w7 13 but fuck it one w7 13 is all u really need though hah btw sidenote since i got the system installed shes run the car one last time lol the wieght of the boxes actually made the car faster no tire spin 15.8@86.02 vs a previous best of 16.1 @ 87..something jnot bad for a lil 2.8 v6
