Well, here's the story: I'm an elevator constructor in Kansas City and got laid off. So I had some time to find a new toy and spend some money. I had an '87 IROC stock, but wanted a more beefy 3rd gen. So I found this car in Colorado Springs where a friend of mine lives. He came back to visit me, so I drove out with him to pick up this car. The owner moved to Co Springs a month ago from Oklahoma, but unfortunately for him, it wouldn't pass emissions test, so he was forced to sell it.
The car runs low 12s with slicks. Bought an '86 IROC with 14,000 miles on the 383 stroker, T-56 tranny, and 3.73 rear out of a '95 Z28 all newly rebuilt. I've got the TPIS Mini-Ram injection system, 11.5:1 Keith Black hypereutectic pistons, Eagle crank and rods, perfect cam, MSD ignition, billit distributor, thorty headers, alum driveshaft, new rubber...THE WORKS. But I've noticed since I got it a slight drop in performance. I know it's not my amateur driving, that's already calculated. But I have noticed that it doesn't have the throttle response it did when I first drove it a few weeks ago.
Here's some more specific parts that may need upgraded:
350 block stroked, bored, and balanced to 383ci
AFR 195 aluminum heads, 1.6 rockers, perfect cam (not changing)
Keith Black hypereutectic pistons 11.5:1 compression
Eagle crankshaft and Eagle connecting rods
TPIS Mini-Ram fuel injection system with 24 lb/hr injectors and 58mm throttle body
MSD ignition, billit distributor w/8.8 wiring
Borla stainless tuneable exhaust system with thorley headers and quad tips
Lingenfelter flywheel
T-56 transmission, TPIS aluminum driveshaft, 3.73 rear end w/posi
centerforce dual friction clutch, hurst shifter
It appears like I've got it maxed out, but I can feel that there is more to this engine than what I'm getting out of it. Maybe I just need to have it dyno tuned and precisely timed to its optimum conditions, but I don't know what else I can do. But it's not running bad at all, I'm just a perfectionist. Thanks for any insight
CAMSHAFT: HYD. valve adjustment, .502/.510 valve lift, 280/288 tappet lift. duration @ .050 224/230; lobe lift .335/.340
