its not that hard of a job really. just unbolting things and then rebolting, nothing really hard about it.
i dont have any shortcuts i can think of other than make sure you dont have a lot of gas in the tank.

I actually just completed this task a few months ago for a fuel pump replacement. the old pump had been in their since the GM person installed it. my 91 should be similar to yours in disassembly but here goes,
#1 if the gas tank has 1/4 to 1/2 tank you should be fine, a little more heavy with more gas, but still doable.
#2, jack up the car on JAckstands, make sure the CAR is jacked up, not the rear, this way the rear end stays low in the car and the frame/body is up high. remove the rear tires it will help later on in tank removal) . Once the car is jacked up, go ahead and jack up the rear as it will be needed about step4
#3 , remove the LC arms, and (if you have it) the big metal bar that connects the transmission to the rear end. remove the driveshaft (block your car in the front so it dont roll) also remove any sway bar end links or other beams in the rear, (mine has a triple one, its 2 bolts)
#4 now with all that stuff removed, unbolt the lower shock bolts, this will allow you to drop the rear end (that you jacked up in step1)
#5 with the rear end dropped very low (due to the shocks being swung out of the way, you can then slide the rear over out of the way a bit, dont slide too much as the rubber brake lines dont like to be super stretched.
#6 remove the fuel line from the drivers side corner where all the fuel and return lines come in , use a flare fitting wrench and some penetrating oil as to not round off the fittings.
#7 remove the gas tank straps, (2 of them) once removed they will swing out of the way, however this also holds the tank in place. once removed the tank is yours. unplug the fuel pump,
sometimes you will need to take a long socket extention and stick it down the filler neck to bend it slightly so the tank can slide out, the tank will slide out the passenger side rear tire.
thats about it.
yeah. thanks...i got it out...but i didnt have to touch the rear end :) now its off to be cleaned or replaced then instalation and then of course.......THE DRAG STRIP!!!!!!
