My dad hates cars after 45+ years of working on them, I have yet to see why. I want a car for Xmas to just take apart. There's a Cutlass Ciera right down the street - "$100, its useless except for parts" put on it. I've been workin' on them for 7 years and cant really imagine not doing it sometime as a regular job as well.

Now if only that body shop will offer me some more work.

Around here no place will hire a mechanic unless you've got some experience on paper like I-CAR certs or ASE stuff. Past experience helps a lot too. I could've gotten a job at sears which usually pays $13 an hour with the commission, but they wanted someone who would be willing to work more then 20hrs a week.

For me when I get out teachers say it will still mainly be basic work then moving up based on how many years experience. A reliable guy with some certs and 10 years of good work past will more likely get a job then I will. Thats what it comes down to with cars. Just work with what you get a move up. ASE stuff will even get you that much farther, but the testing is very difficult.

A lot of them drop out after the first session of 5 classes or "phases". If you'll actually do stuff yourself and like it then it's worth it.

Its one of the reasons I dont have a job right now - because I want to do something that has to do with cars (even a parts store would suffice for now) but cant get any of those jobs til I'm 18 unless the body shop needs my help.

So, fixing our PITA cars is definitely high up on my list of things I want to do in life, and #1 for a job.

Upgrading windows XP with the SP2 or whatever package does that. And using adaware to remove all the other shit that makes popups is great. 3GO doesn't have any popups at all though, meaning you probably got something installed on your computer you don't want.
