Ok... the hood thing cracked me up. Reminds me of an old Sukiyaki Samuraki I used to own in St. Thomas named "Lurch"... the hood opened fine, tho. Everything else was screwy. The clutch pedal linkage was messed up, so the clutch wouldn't go all the way in, and the battery had a bad post so the connection was always screwed..... and here's how it got it's name. I had a shoestring (actually, a few of them) tied to the battery cable that led into the jeep.... I'd tug on the string to make the battery connection, then depress the clutch and turn the key to start the jeep. Remember, the clutch wouldn't go all the way down, so the jeep would start to lurch down the street as the engine turned over. It would finally start, and would run great until I got to a stoplight, where it would promptly stall. And the whole process would start over. I only drove it to work, which was a couple miles up the road.... it was easier to just drive it to work like that than to try to fight my way all the way across the island to an auto parts store. Ok, that's not true.... truth is I was 24 and drunk most of the time and I thought it was funny as hell.
