350 timing

Hey all,

I just put on my edelbrock carb and rpm intake last week and today i was trying to time it....not so good. i know i should time it to a certain degree but im not sure what it is. if anyone has any idea on where i should start it would be greatly appreciated.

engine specs: 350, cam (dont know anything about it), the new carb and intake listed above, stock exhaust, and its HEI.

start at 6* BTDC and then just fine adjust it to where ever it likes it. loosen the dist. a little and turn very slightly in either direction while watching it with a timing light.

its pretty much a trial and error deal.

ah good old montec always comes through. thanks, ill give it a try whenever it stops raining up here. stupid rain.

Generally speaking, they like more advance. My TPI likes 12* BTDC.
