View Full Version : rochester 4bbl carb problems
hey i just bought an 83 z after i wrecked in my 85. the carb was junk so i got a reman from jegs and it looks and works good. it has electric choke and i was wondering why it ticks when i turn on the key ( the old one did not ) and what the blue electrical connector actually does? also where can i find a vacuum schimatic for my car? its the 305 5.0L H.O. thanks alot. :conf:

ticking when u turn the key on is normal. if your old one didnt then it was broken.
as for the blue electricall wire. your gonna need to be more specific, there are a ton of blue electircall wires on cars.

hey thanks but i meant blue connection cause my carb is the electronicaly controled one. for some reason that url u put up there^^^^ didnt work for the diagram....hmmm thanks

ok but i still dont know what blue connection your talking about on the carb. i dont have one right in front of me and i didnt memorize the color scheme of the wires going to it.
i think the connector in question is a fuel celeniod of some kind.... it sits on the passenger side and is up towards the front of the carb... i will try to get a pic and show u so maybe u will know it.... will that vacuum diagram for the monte work on mine or no?

oh that connection, i know what your talking about now, sorry.
but now i dont know what it is.

hey thanks but for some reason she still wont run on her own... im thinkin its still getin some bad gas....but i dont want to drop the gas tank to clean it so i think im just gonna run it dry and figure it out....thanks for the help

I believe the connector in question is the computer controlled idle mixture control. At least that is what it was on my Q-jet.
