long story short on the reassembly of my engine from repairing headgaskets i some how lost a sensor or something that threads into the side of my intake plennum. it is a 89 firebird fourmula with the l98 engine. if you are looking from the front of the car it is on the right side (drivers side) and it is inbetween where the two runners meet into the plenum , it threads in and it has standard pipe threads probabily about 9/16 inch. it is creating a huge vaccum leak and i cant start my car, i am assuming it is a sensor but it could be just a plug. i am hoping that someone could tell me the name of it so i could purchase it from a part store or if it is a sensor or not. i have searched local scrap yards and cant find any tpi engines. if anyone could help it would be gratley appreaciated.

I hope we're talking about the same thing (1/2 NPT thread hole on the plastic intake runners before the TB - correct me if I'm wrong).
This is for the AIT/IAT (Intake Air Temp) sensor. But from what I've been told (I might be wrong), this is the location of the sensor for V6 models. The V8's should have the sensor under the upper intake plenum.
This would not be causing a vacuum leak as it is located before the TB (once again, I hope we're talking about the same thing here). It just sucks unfiltered air from under the hood instead of through the filters in front of your rad.
I just plugged mine for now (when I was restoring my TPI intake system that the PO butchered up, I used a V6 intake runner with this hole) and will relocate the AIT sensor later. You can use any 1/2" NPT plug from any local HW store. They shouldn't cost more than $0.50 or so.
Hope this helps.
If not, I'm on AIM and YM so gimme a shout.

Is this what we're hopefully both talking about? Found an actual picture in my gallery.
