I have a chance to get one for $1000, complete with wiring harness and mass air. Do I have to notch the frame at all?

Go for it, the LT4 is basically an LT1, which is a pretty straight forward swap. The wiring, computer, and accesories are basically all that have to be changed. The only thing I would check before hand is the exhaust flange on the heads, I've never seen an LT4 flange in person, so you would want to make sure your SBC headers/maniflods will work. The bellhousing, motor mounts, and external dimensions are all SBC on and LT1, so they would be on an LT4 (same block).
Hope this helps, and I hope you get to do it, that would be a helluva swap.

Oh and if you didn't get the hint, no you don't have to notch the frame or anything. ;)

you only have to notch the frame for an LS1 swap, right?

If you keep the A/C set up from the LT1/LT4, you have to, but most folks don't. I looked up the exhaust flange height is the same, so it'll fit right in.
