Sucess!!! This weekend I finally got the bass I wanted, built a 1.75 cu. ft. sealed "truck box" to fit in the well of my t/a, stuck a polk gnx12 in and it sounds great! I had tried a 1.25 cu ft sealed and ported box and didn't get the sound i wanted...easy easy easy to build...

post a step by step and I'll stick it up... ports sound sloppy in my opinion. I've always been a huge fan of a nice sealed box...although for SPL nothin' beats a nice port...

a sealed box hits the low notes (like 25-30 hz) with the same authority as the mid bass, thats the sound i like...

 As long as you like hard hittin' stuff stay with 12's and under. My friend had 4 PPI 8"...they hurt your balls. :hapsad:

i was trying to get good bass with one woofer, i have a 12" velodyne home unit and it hits real good (deep notes) so i figured surely one 12" would work in a car

Yeah. specially in our F-bodies, point it up so it reverberates off that big ass hatch, the bass will hit ya right in the gut. good times...had an '84 Z28 H.O. with 2 15's in it...talk about voltage problems!

I took a "plywood" board and made it sit flat on the two shelves in the well of my '92, covered it with cloth to somewhat match my red carpet and made sure it followed the curves of the plastic panels real tight. Then dropped in two mid '90's model Rockford Fosgate "Punch" 8 ohm 10's. They ran at 4 ohms off a bridged Power Acoustic 820 belive it or not and made your eyes dance and with the right song "deep ass bass song" on Kazaa made it hard to breath....... from 2 ten's........ on a board!! WITH A POWER ACOUSTIC!!! The board was 5/8in thick and bounced like monkey on a branch when it's horny! The amp was mounted under the board so there were no wires or amp to be seen.
The new JL's do hit harder though not by much.
