i can get an 80 amp alt for my truck, and its 75amp stock... is that a big enough difference for better power?
also aside from optima what are some good batteries

not really man. Depending on what year of truck and what kind of amp/draw you have you're almost always better going with over 100 amps. Optima makes a helluva stereo battery, and deep cycle with lots of CCA is good..dry cell is even better.

also what is a good brand for high output alternators?

Delco is alright...just depends, I've went with napa brand...my stereo alternator in the GTA was built by hand.

i am not going killer power... dont wanna spend killer bucks, which a custom job would be
maybe when i get my z28 and dont use my truck much anymore

for the cheapest and most economical, go with a refurbished and splurge on the lifetime warranty. Most batteries over $50 come with a two year replacement for free.
