Sorry if you already hit the lounge then this is a repost. But if you can not see the video then go to the lounge and look for the same subject.
Well with that said, Hello my name is Scott Koresky, I drag race a 1986 camaro iroc-z on the track not on the streets so don't ask. The street racing scene is getting to risky and I have too much to loose. Jeff (kandiedz) is a good friend, But enough about me lets look at the ride shall we.
It's a 421 ci small block on a heavy dose or NOS. I run a production 400 block that has billet caps in all 5 positions, a Howards extreme crank, Oliver billet rods with the 3.5 arp bolts (top fuel ones) and custom ross pistons that make it 14.2-1 compression. The heads are Dart pro1's that are cnc 230's. The trans is a Art Carr T350 on a trans break and a ford 9" out back. the car weighs 3320 with me in it and it goes 9.41 @146 best to date 10-22-04 at milan dragway.
I wanted to run Pro Edelbrok extreme st. this year but I got laidoff from American Axle and MFG. and I can not afford to spend the money right now. Check out the video and nice to be home were people appreciate a nice 3rd gen.

I looked at our records a little. Weve done a few jobs for ya. And quoted some rotary retorts too. Got any more pics of the car you can post? I might be interested in some axels down the road once my next project gets going.

i write checks lol...

I dont write checks, all my bills are paid online.
Im thinking he means someone who just "writes checks" to pay others to build their own cars. Such as paying someone to build your motor, or something like that. But if you dont have the motor building skills and have the money then more power to ya. i think im confused, lol.

I belive he is refering to "jeff"kandied91z" Lots of people call him a check writer because everything has been done to his car and he didn't do any of it.
Even if you were a Check writer. Verry nice car no matter what so who cares.
NIce videos. any motor shots?

a check writer is somebody that pays for all their parts and then pays somebody else to have them do all the work. most ricers fit into the category, some domestic owners do also.

Scott i'm about 1 hour from norwalk. I usually just go to thompson for all my drag racing. I get 5-6 passes even on the packed days. The people are all very friendly, including all the employees. Tech is pretty leniant and the track was just remodeled 2 years ago. They have a playground for kids, a lake for remote control boats, and a track next to it for the kids that race those little gokarts.

Chris I wasn't refering to jeff, I was just refering to people in general that do that shit. My sisters bf has a buddy with a 99 TA, all he does is fork out the cash for people to do even the simplist shit on his car. He's a check writer...

I might have to check out the other track, I know what your saying. The first time I went to ten grand nats. there was 800 cars and it took 3.5 hours between rounds. Man that drove me nuts. Send me a link if you can. And no I deffinetly am not a check writer, I built the axle on jeff's car and have a little side business called Driveline Solutions, I am still working out of my garage but I am looking for a low rent building. Ebay is my main source of income right now so keep an eye on the name on ebay, And I'm looking for some one to build an web site. Ant info is appreciated.

eh, i dont see anything wrong with that. If i didnt have such a great boyfriend and group of friends on this board i sure as hell have somebody pay to put my shit in. If you got the $$ to pay for it, why not do it. Does that make ya a less of man if you dont do it yourself? Must be a guy ego thing... lol

Thanks, it dead hooked on that 9.57 pass on 175 shot. I went to Milan a few weeks later and put 250 to it and it spun and went 9.41 at 146. thats the best to date, I bounced it off the limiter and broke a piston. but it's going back together this week.

I understand what you are saying, thats what keeps guy like me in business and able to put food on the table.
But I also have to farm out some projects on my car, I can not fab. headers, and custom suspension components. But I do all my own engine building, wiring, plumbing, etc. what ever I can do I do it. But in some cases, I have friends that live in appts., that can not work on their cars. So they ask me to either let them use my tools or help out in anyway. I don't want to say it's an ego thing but, I get alot more people respect when people talk to me and figure out I did it myself. And I like to give advice when a younger guy comes by at the track and asks questions about the car cause he has 1 at home.

no, no... we're not giving you a hard time about it.... it's the people that talk as if they built it themselves and know nothing about how it works. those are the ones that we call "check writers" and mean it in a derogatory manner.
i think everyone is a check writer to some extent. i paid for the machine work on my first engine, because i knew i had no way to ensure that everything was within spec to use.
as far as assembling it, i bought a haynes manual on rebuilding the small block chevy, and walked myself through it and with some advice from friends on here.
i'm slowly learning more and more, but i'll always be a check writer to some extent. i won't touch a carburetor rebuild, or an a transmission rebuild of any type.

Welcome to the board!!! We were an American Axle vendor years ago, as well. We supplied Driveshaft Center Support Bearing Assemblies. I think they eventually started doing them in house.

They probably import them fom china now. AAM Is all about out source and lean technonologies. They have banners all over the plants about policy and quality and 1 that says ( LOW COST COUNTRY ) right when you walk in. I wish I really knew what I was getting into when I hired in. Dont read me wrong I love my job, But with all of the politics involved and watching them replace a worker with a robot is getting to me.

I work at a manufacture of axles, I work on a cnc transfer line that rough cuts the center section in a 1500 silverado, sierra, denali, escalade, vans anything .5 ton.
But before you get a frown, before I worked at AAM I was at DriveTrainSpecialists in warren MI for 6 years and am still state cert. for axles. I currently work in my garage and have been doing so ever since I left DTS to got to AAM. I am a dealer for Moser and can build anything you need. I have been popular on camaroz28.com, look up ford 9" assemblies and you'll find my name all over. So yes I can accomodate what you need. I know I cannot advertise here and I might have already said too much. But they'll contact me if I have. PM me or e-mail skoresky@yahoo.
