Gas is pouring out of my engine!

Hey guys, I have a V8 LG4 305. Bone stock. After coming home from the grocery store gas came pouring out from my engine. I mean pouring out! I found the part it's coming from.

It seems to be coming from this little hole on there. I'm sorry I don't know much about cars, and I know this place is normally just a laid back place, but I would really appreciate the help.

Is that hole supposed to be plugged? How would it fall out all of a sudden if so? What is that part?

oh shit, too late man, I squatted down to get a better look and lit one up. the WOOSH, the ground below me was ablaze! It was nuts!

Actually the gas smell warned me, but thanks for looking out!

It's hard to tell in the pic, but that may be the return line fitting. You should have a fuel line going from the fuel pump to the carb, and one going from the fuel pump back to the gas tank. Look around for unhooked hoses. If you don't find any, put a vacuum cap and tiny hose clamp over the open nipple and see if the car runs okay with it capped.

If you can't get it fixed on your own, it's something easy that you should be able to find a mechanically apt friend to help with... or go to an auto parts store and offer someone $10 to help you out.

To bring a conclusion to the story, I went to Auto Zone, 10.99 got me a new pump, threw it on, and it's running great now.

For a first timer, it took about an hour.
I'd give a 1/5 difficulty if you have two hands.
