I can't stress eoungh how poorly those units function after one year of use. I'm sure they were great technology back in '92. Do yourself a huge favor. But the flushmount kit from Metra and get a cheap Alpine or Pioneer. It'll look great (cause of the flushmount) and bring your car into the millenium.

Also, buying a newer GM model from ebay (or where ever) is not the greatest idea. As I stated above, stock head units are not made to last more than 1.5-2 years. Just enough to get you through that warrenty/lease cycle. :) If you need any further assistance just let me know.

Hey Kurupt, where'd you find that flushmount? Mine came with some shitty mount that looks horrible because the head I have isn't the full size of the hole like 1 din or whatever they are. It's an AIWA and it sucks. thanks

:werd: I hate that kit. It's by Metra (the one I have) but you can find 'em from Scosche as well.

I don't recall if that's the flat one or not, also plan on removing any brackets that the stock one has in the very back of the console. Most car stereo shops should have it. They come in 2", 1.5 " , 1" , 1/2" and flat.

Cool, thanks for the link bro. So do I have to take out that brass looking brace all the way inside there? I never really had anything to mount the head inside the dash so it moves kinda easily and I can't even listen to cds on the highway cause it skips every two seconds. Any thoughts?

The kit will bolt up fairly well on the sides. If you get the flush mount kit you'll have to remove that brass bracket more than likely. Some decks aren't as deep, but anything over about 6" and you're pullin' that thing. A good way to stabalize the deck is by getting a pair of bent nose pliers. They can bend the tabs on the can (the metal sleeve the deck fits in) back around the kit . Another good idea is to use plumbers tape. Just attatch to the back of the deck and to a point (usually above the removed bracket location) on the chassy. In the 3rdgens there aren't many more options to stabalizing your deck without heavy mods. Good luck man.

only in the 4th gen. I sold my 3rdgen a long time ago...It looks great. It's all flush like and shit, doesn't poke out and hit your shifter...it looks like stock only smaller.
