I am replacing the heater hoses on my 88 Formula 305 TBI. There is a little filler fitting inline with one of the hoses. It is wore out and crumbles in my hand. Should I replace it or just throw it away. I don't beleive it is a factory GM part. I saw something just like it in a flush/fill kit at the parts store while I was getting some hoses.

I am pretty sure that is not a factory part. My all stock (at the time) 91 RS did not have anything like that on the heater hose lines. I would just throw it away and replace it with a new heater hose, especially since it's falling apart in your hands. It's just going to get worse and eventually leak.

That's a flusher thingy, probably a Prestone...Garden hose fits on it..

I'm definitely not re-using it and if it isn't original I'm not putting another one on. It is just one more potential leak. Thanks for the info.

Those flush tee's are accually handy to clear out the coolent system and help relive air on re-fill, you could probubly repace it for like $5 bucks. I have had one on every car I've owned.
