When my car is at a full rest, and then I go to move forward or reverse, it takes a second or so for the car to pick up some speed. It picks up a bit, but not much. After it gets to a certain point it accelerates much better. It my idle too low? Because I also noticed that when I release the brake, my car hardly moves if at all.

Well excuse me. Where are my manners? How dare I not know how this damn thing works. Well, if you want to know: it is a 1987 Camaro RS 2.8L V6.

How do I go about increasing the idle?

don't be an ass here. people would be really quick to tell you to go find help somewhere else.

You don't even tell us where your car idles as of now...

and i doubt your car would randomly lower its idle speed in terms of adjustment. If that is what the problem is, i'd clean out the IAC

ok, a few things that can effect your idle are : timing belt (stretch) distributor advanced/retarded, IAC, tps. WHen was the last time the car had a tune up? how long has this been going on for?

You answered your own question.

:werd:
a 3200lb car isn't gonna get very far with a 2.8l V6

BTW, no timing belts on camaros.
