Alright, here's the audio breakdown of 3rdgen F-bodys:
Speakers
Stock in the dash : 4x6's
Replace with : 5x1/4 or not at all
Suggestion : just remove these speakers and ignore the location. Sure you can pick up some for cheap, but they're so small all they do is produce treble. You'll rarely get your money out of these, and unless you're going for a 6 channel setup, you best bet is to build a set of kickpanels located in the foot areas on the drivers and passenger side.
Stock in the sail panel : 6x9's
Replace with : 6x9's, a 6 1/2" component/coaxial set or 8" subs.
Suggestion : If you're gonna go big, get some 8" in there. If you're looking for decent performance just replace the stock 6x9's with a decent set of aftermarkets. If you want a crisp sound, go with either the 6" component set or coaxes.
Stock in the kickpanel : nothing
Replace with : a component or coaxial 6 1/2"
Suggestion : This is a great alternative to those 4x6's in the dash area, with the right fiberglass job, these can sound awesome.
