Cowl hoods

Is there any restrictions on how large a cowl induction can be? If I wanted to put a 5 inch on my Bird could I get in trouble for that in NJ? Thanks

The oversized hood police are going to get you :)
I think they can get you for obstruction of view or somthing like that.

i know this is an old post and you might have gotten your question figured out. i had a 6in cowl on my RS and the police never said anything about it. was pulled over a few times also and I asked them about it and they said as long as i could see over or arond it i was ok. this is in nebraska by the way

I am a cop in south MS, and if I saw a 6" cowl hood, i might stop the vehicle just because that is a reason to stop it and see what is going on, but i probly would not write a ticket because i love cowl hoods, go figure. To asnwer the question, I believe I could win that one in court if i did write a ticket, it is not factory, and it does obstruct the view just like a cracked windshield, tint, or decals on the front windshield are illegal.
