why does my gas gauge read sideways?

So why does my gauge read sideways in my 85? It is the big gauge on the right of the steering wheel. It reads sideways and I don't know why. Anyone know?

What do you mean it reads sideways? Camaro or Firebird?

Maybe someone took the guage out at some point and put it back in wrong?

Well, I fixed it. It is in my camaro. I am the 3rd owner and the only one in 10 years. I did replace my idiot lights with gauges, but I've never taken out my gas gauge or taken off the needle or messed with it in any way. It just started reading sideways after I did my motor swap. It worked just fine, but read on the left side of the gauge instead of on the top of the gauge. I filled up the tank, pulled off the needle and put it back on at full. Just don't really know how it got that way.
