Me again! My '91 RS has just developed an electrical fault. It keeps blowing the fuse for the cetral locking, elec. mirrors, the boot release button and the horn. We have been round everything and can't seem to find anything wrong. We have looked at the haynes manual for the car but the wiring diagrams are very badly printed.

Have any of you had this problem before I spend loads of cash taking it to an electrician??

If anyone can help I would be very grateful.

I would start by unplugging devices that are connected to that fuse, one at a time, to see if one of them will cause the fuse to stop blowing. That should greatly narrow down the problem.

Hi Corey,
We have unplugged every device linked to that fuse and it still keeps blowing them.

Even the horn? I guess that eliminates the easy diagnosis of a bad component.

The next thing I would do is get a test light and probe all the terminals in each connector to see which ones have a ground, then check the wiring diagrams in the book to see which one of those isn't supposed to have a ground.

The wiring diagrams in the chilton book are sometimes drawn differently. That may or may not help.

After you isolate the wire, the only thing to do is physically trace the wire from the connector back to the fuse box to find where it went bad
