if a highway patrol officer is cruising along at, lets say, 80 mph on the freeway with no lights and no siren going, can he pull you over if you follow him but keep a good distance as not to "Tailgate" him? i've done this several time going to and from work because in my part of ca it seems officers like to fly down 80. my view of it is that if you're following the officer and he is not in persuit, then aren't you technically maintaining the flow of traffic as long as you dont tailgate and/or pass him/her up? thats just an opinion i dont know if it holds water or not. thanks, take care.

In most places there are situations that merit high speeds but not using your emergancy equipment. I have had people do this to me and yes, a couple of times I have had time to stop and cit them. It all depends on what the call Im enroute to is.

thanks for the feedback guys.... so is it the same deal even if the offer is not in persuit and just driving faster than the speed limit? lol i guess they could always say they WERE in persuit, then its their word against mine which doesn't favor me much in court lol. thanks again.
