thats a dilema, call a locksmith to open it or have it rekeyed.

That's about it.

If you don't mind ruining the plastic in the back of the inside of the car you could take out the big plastic screws and rip it off then release the latch with a screwdriver. The reason it will fuck up the plastic is there are two small screws that go into the plastic from the top, one on each side of the latch.

You could also try to hammer a large flathead screwdriver into the keyhole and turn it with that, but it will destry the lock cylinder. If for some reason you can't get that to work it will also pretty much ruin any chance of a locksmith being able to do it.

Actually, one other thing. If the locks in the door and rear are original, you might be able to go to a dealer with the vin number and maybe a copy of the title and they might be able to cut you a new key.

You can't get the lock cylinder out without a key. You need to find a locksmith that will come outside to the car to work with it.

I don't think the electric hatch thing started until 85 or so but if it is electric then yes the wiring will be there, but (dramatic pause) I don't think there will be a release solenoid in the back, so it's not like you could just put a jumper in the connector up front.

Oh, and just in case the thought crossed your mind, don't try to pry it open with a crowbar or something. I tried that in a junkyard car once and bent the back lid and broke the window and the thing still wouldn't let go.

I would try the dealer first to see if they can help with getting a new key.

I'm just full of good news today aren't I?

The button would be located in the middle of the dash right under the center air vents. You will have to take off the plastic piece that goes around the guages and holds the air vents. If it was even an option on your car I think there would be a cover over the hole in that spot under the air vents.

After you get the plastic piece off there should be three connectors there. From left to right they should be Amp(factory) - rear defogger - hatch open.
