this is on the 82.....

replaced pump relay.. and also checked power to the fuel pump fuse and also power to the relay, everything there checks out ok.. car will start then die instantly cause i have an aftermarket pump up front to boost pressure(i know but i didnt wanna take the tank out ) but i dont hear the clicking i normally hear.. and if i take the fuel hose off at filter up front(before the aftermarket pump) there is 0 fuel coming out with key on.

what else should i check before takin the tank out and replacing pump(if thats what it is)

ive also heard theres a fuel pump switch or is it just the relay?

thanks

Look for a lose ground wire. It may measure out ok and still be a problem. It happened to me. Get the relay to work then go from there.

Well you HAD a mechanical pump on it when it was carbed right? And you have an electric pump mounted in-line but no in-tank pump. So thats why there is no fuel coming out from the line before the in-line pump, because there is no pump in there. (that I'm aware of, I could be wrong). Check for power and ground at the in-line pump itself. If there is power present and that pump doesn't run. That pump is bad. If there IS a pump in the tank on a car that was originally carbed. (Which I don't think there is) then if that pump is bad it will restrict the other pump form getting any fuel. Let us know.
