Exhaust loudness in IOWA?

i got a ticket this morning for loud exhaust. what are the laws behind this. the cop didnt use a decible meter to see how loud my car actually was. i wasnt speeding or doing anything else illegal. now my car isnt quite by anymeans but it isnt loud ither. deff. not as loud as any harley in town and those guys get away with it. does anyone have any info on this topic for iowa laws?

Just curious, what kind of exhaust system do you have on (so we have an idea of the noise level)? If he didn't use a meter it might get thrown out of court, unless it is the officer's discretion whether it is loud or not. I'm not a LEO, nor have I ever been pulled over for loud exhaust (even though mine isn't exactly quiet) so I can't say for sure...

well its on my beater truck. its just a straight pipe with a glass pack. fyi its a Ford 300 I6
