Say a person wants to be a police officer, such as highway patrol. They go to college for four years and have a good background in criminal justice. However, they had their license revoked when they were a minor. How would that affect their opportunities in becoming an officer?

Would depend on the reasons for the revocation, I would think.

I'd go to the C.H.P. and ask who does thier background investigations then go and speak with one of thier investigators face to face before you go any further.. no sence wasting yours or thier time if you are going to be DQ'd.

Cali is pretty strict from what I've heard.. other states just up the coast are less strict and really hurting for Troopers.

Usually if it's alcohol related, you'll have a hard time because that's considered a crime of moral turpitude <sp?>.

Nope, it's not alcohol related. It's a lot of crap that happened over a year ago. I was sixteen, and my license was revoked because someone made a complaint that I had been driving recklessly. Long story short, I didn't have any evidence to back my story up, and since the guy who complained happened to be a peace officer, they took his word over mine. So they revoked my license for a year. Now, I talked to a CHP about this, and he told me that since I was a minor, if I keep my record clean from now on, I'd have better chances.
