For some reason it doesn't want to shift right. I've adjusted the TV cable how the manual says to do it, but my car will be running 3500-4000 rpm and I'm still only doing 40mph! It seems like it's not getting out of second gear. I first noticed the problem on the expressway when I was on my way home, and it's gotten progressively worse. I think I have the 700r4, but I'm not quite sure. Were there even any other transmissions available in 93? Anybody else have a clue what's going on? I know tranny work and transmissions themselves aren't cheap (had to replace two of them in my 93 Ford Probe) so I was hoping for some help before I have to take it to a shop.

If it is a 700r4, I think it is. The transmission sounds like it is going bad. When mine went bad, First I lost overdrive, Then 3rd and so on until I only had first. Sorry.

The 3-4 clutch is gone (common), this reqiures the transmission to be rebuilt. If I can be of help, let me know?

Advice; should I rebuild, get one off of a donor junk car, or save and buy a remanufactured? Evantually, (most likely years from now) I plan on doing an engine swap. Also, I've never rebuilt one, just replaced them. How hard would it be to rebuild? I have a garage, but I only have a regular floor jack and jack stands, no lift or trans jack.

Removing the transmission from the engine is not a problem. Rebuilding one can be a big job though. I have never done it but I was told that it is a very complicated project.
