On Saturday morning (1-24-04) someone drove by and threw a brick at my friends 77 Camaro and hit the rear driver’s side quarter panel. It happened at about 3:30 AM and he heard a noise and went outside to see what was up. He saw a brick about 6 feet in front of his car and thought that they had tried to hit the car in the driveway and that they missed, so he thought nothing of it. In the morning he realized that they had hit his car. Needless to say he is pretty mad about it, and he doesn’t have full coverage so his insurance isn't going to cover the damage. I am just wondering what could he do about it? I don't think he can do much since he didn't see anyone do it, but that’s why I am asking. He hasn’t pissed anyone off or anything, but the cars at his house are always getting hit with something. Our cars have been paint-balled and egged multiple times and we found out that it was some kids from another school. We caught them shooting our cars up with a paintball gun one day and got their license plate numbers but didn't report it. We also don't know these kids, but friends of ours have also had their cars vandalized and they know who they are. We just don’t know if they threw the brick or not. Any information on if or what we can do about these things will be greatly appreciated.

and this would be what the damage looks like. The kids must have been driving pretty damn fast to be able to chuck the brick at the car, have it hit the quarter panel, do a small skip and hit the window, and bounce over the rest of the car to land 6 feet in front of it. Their fast driving would also explain why, when I ran outside as soon as I heard a noise, they were nowhere in sight. I hate people. Stupid cowards.

spy cameras (or satellites if you've got em). leave bait out and have a camera ready to get a license plate.

I would report them, it might be a felony.

I would definitely file a police report. It's happened before where dirtbags are caught for one violation, have a guilty conscience and confess to all the goofy shit they've done in the past. If your report is on file, it would help clear it up. Now, this IS rare, so don't get your hopes up, but it's the only chance you have.

I bet homeowners would cover it, but most policies have atleast a $500 deductable, and the rates would go up, its not really worth it.

I don't have homeowner's insurance anyways. And it isn't covered by my car insurance because I only have liability. I'm thinking about doing a police report, but I don't know if it's even worth the trouble. So I guess I'm screwed unless I find out who did it.
