alright guys, if i were to pull up to a light; I'll be the first in line, but sit there with my brake on just making smoke. I dont let off the brake until the car starts to idle cause well i can get a ticket for accelerating too fast. Can i get a ticket for doing a burnout?
i live in florida so some of you may know.
thanks,
shane
p.s. i'm a big show off so thats why i'm gonna do this

yes. theres several things they can get you under...
if a cop sees you theres a extremely good chance you're getting a ticket... so about the only advice a cop here would give would be: dont do it..
being that im not a cop, mines a lil diffrent..... : dont let a cop see you do it.
and if you are planning to launch off the light, if you want to be fast and you dont have slicks or drag radials on, dont burnout street tires.

i'm not tlaking about lauching off a light, i just wanna sit there and make smoke, but not speed from the light. hat all. I wont be moving.
It would be exhibition of acceleration. You don't have to actually move to get tagged with this charge.

Would you also call it "radical" or "totally boss"? I know I would.

No matter what anyone tells you here you are probably still going to do it. Been there done that :D . Just be sure you don't endanger anyone else . I won't do it anymore , outgrew that sort of thing and my tires are to expensive to see go up in smoke.

Yeah recklass driving, illegal squealing of tires or something along those lines. Yeah it would be cool to you, but everyone else would think you were an a$$hole.
On another note I remember seeing an 87 cutlass 442 sitting at an intersection. It hit the line-lock and must have done a burnout for at least 30-45 seconds. There was so much smoke it filled up everything. You couldn't see anywhere around for at least 200 ft behind him. I thought it was cool as hell.

no, i'd be "mint," we drive '80's cars. As for the original question- exhibition of speed, laying drag, attempting to engage in a contest of speed- and that was all with one burnout.

If I were sitting behind you at that light I'd get outa my car and go beat your ass for spewing little rocks and chunks of rubber onto my car and chipping my paint. If you're going to do it, be considerate and don't fuck someone's car because of it.
And why are you asking if you'd get in trouble for it? If you do it in front of a cop,...you're just asking for it to begin with. If he doesn't pull you over for that he'll be looking for something else.
Burnouts are cool,....but any rwd car can do them. And it's too expensive for me waste my money on something that everyone can do. On the otherhand,...lighting the tires up at 30mph,...now that'll impress people.

Good rule of thumb- If you have to ask, you WILL get in trouble. But on the other hand, it's eaier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
