question for Texas cops

my roomate has this great idea that if u pass a cop that has someone pulled over with his lights and is writing them a ticket or warning or whatever they are doing and u are speading doin something stupid or illegal that cops cant come after u if they are involved with something else already..i call bs on it

the key there is to not get them to notice it..


now on one hand, if im doing 10 over with traffic and hes outside the car talking to the driver, (after i moved over 2 lanes away) i keep going the same speed.....


but he can just as easily be in his car, done, looking at the radar gun for his next person.... or if you're doing somthing stupid, he can call it in.. or even drop what hes doing there and go after you if you're being a idiot..


key thing is, dont do somthing stupid, and you wont have to worry about it.... cops are people too, so if you go doing stuff that pisses em off, or stuff thats outright dangerous, they will go after you for it.. its their job and they take it seriously.


if you're saying he should slam on his brakes because theres a cop pulled over... no... but he should slow if he cant get a few lanes away from the cop on the hwy or somthing... heh, i think thats a law now too....


so basicly im saying they CAN... but you have to give em a good reason to.

madmax, I use an old Texas DPS trick for guys like your friends. :)

I find an abandoned car on the side of IH35 or IH635. I pull in behind the car and turn all my lights on like a Christmas tree and act like I'm busy. I then turn my rear radar on and watch cars in my mirror. It's amazing how many people think I'm busy and can't pay attention to them. :D

I know, it's cheating, but hey, they're the ones trying to take advantage of the situation. :thumbup:

you're the reason i say that you have to see if their OUTSIDE the car... lol :thumbup: (and then still, if im near ya, im gonna slow.... i know what its like to work a emergency or somthing on the side of the road with cars going 60+ past ya)


i dont blame ya for doin that either. if im caught, im caught.... i just try to make it so you're more enticed to get someone else, or waiting for a faster one....

I know, it's cheating, but hey, they're the ones trying to take advantage of the situation. :thumbup: hahahaha :thumbup: ,the only thing i dont like about texas cops is they are not required to have any lights on when they are on the side of the road.in florida they have to at least have their parking lights on.i was on my way to work one morning(at 5:45 A.M)going down 635 near Mcarthur doing about 75MPH luckily a car had just passed me doing about 85 to 90 MPH.and there was a cop on the side of the road with no lights on at all.when the car that passed me blew by him he hit the lights and scared the piss outta me

I know where you're talking about and chances are pretty good that was me. :) That's one of my honey holes.
