Well I got two questions. One is does anyone know the difference in the flow between the AFR heads and the Vortec heads? The second question is does anyone know anything about the L88 Corvette cam. It is in this 350 and was wondering if anyone knew anything on it. Thanks for ur help.

Well, an L88 is a big block so the cam is not that. If it idles choppy it is probably a bigger than stock cam, but that is about you can find out without digging into the engine. The GM Vortecs are very good at lifts and good for mid range power, but the AFR heads are real performance heads and should be better at higher rpms, but do cost more.

fast burn heads have very similar flow numbers at high lift compared to many afr castings.they really outflow them at lower lift levels.

AFRs flow about 40 cfm more throughout the entire range than out of the box Vortecs do...

Well, I am building a 383 stroker motor and I have been told its not good to run it past 5500rpms. I have questions, (1) do you agree with this and (2) I was going to go with AFR heads but if you believe that Vortec flow better at lower rpms should i go with Vortec or stick with the AFR which I was planning to get. I am looking for maximum flow. Thanks for your input.

for flow numbers on both heads, email your request to hpfarm@aol.com the guys at tpis are great. you should have your response in a day or so. i have a 383 myself with fast burn heads, tpis zz-9x cam and tpis miniram III intake. it makes 530 hp and it has just about 400 ft-lbs available at 2000 rpm. check out their web site www.tpis.com

the only downside to fast burn heads is that they require a vortech specific intake manifold. if you still want to retain your tpi, scroggins-dickey chevy sells a vortech intake manifold for tpi engines. its about $400
