 Saw a Vette run an 11.61 with a SR'd 383 out at 42 this AM. Great day for racing. I got smoked 4 times, twice by a Fox body that ran a best of 11.51, once by a '04 GTP that ran a 12.75 and once by a Talon that ran a 12.93. I beat another Talon twice. Got a new best though.

172,000 and counting! :) I spoke with the owner of the Vette for a while and he said he had 190,000 and 1000's of 1/4 passes before he finally went to the 383. I can thank the temps yesterday for the killer times, also ran a 13.64. Plus I finally found the best way to launch the car. I fried the Nitto's, I know you're not supposed to do that with street radials but it worked. The car hooked with a 1.979 60 ft.

Hey matt,
Those pistons forged?
Did you get him to balance it or not?
You doing the clearancing yourself/help of friends?

The pistons are hyper. I figure I only race 3 times a year. I didnt need top of the line stuff. Chris and robert and 2 loud ass compressors are going to help me doing the clearancing. Erin and I visit Victory Engines today and I was VERY pleased. I am going to have my heads and block done there. He took erin and I on an hour tour of the place and showed us how every machine worked. He then showed us customer motors and his own sprint car motors. Took us back to the inshop dyno then back to where the "really " big motors are. He had i think it was a 640 or 630 someting All Aluminum BBC that put out 998 HP N/A on the dyno. This thing was mean looking. He does race motors, Briggs 5HP models and old time motors. He had a straight 8 1937 Chrysler on a stand. This thing was 80 feet long. He said dont put your toes underneigth. I'm scared working on this motor. lol I'm having them helicoil all my intake holes on my head and install the .600 lfit springs and set them to 1.9 height. Then for the block he is going to torque plate and bore it 30 over, deck it just to clean, wash it, all the plugs and stuff, and install the cam bearings. Cant wait to fire it up now lol

Did he give you a price on the overbore and cam bearings as well as the balancing? Let me know as I am looking into this...
