And I must say I was amazed. Its just so mind-blowing to imagine so many died there and the scale and scope of the battle! Every year our AF base hosts a cleanup of some portion of the battlefield and this year it was the "High Water Mark" of Picket's charge. Its almost unimagineable to think over 6000 men died in the fields your standing on alone... Combined with the Fall colors, it made for some amazing sights.

After that we had a "mini VIP" tour. If not for the cold rain we would have visited alot more. I think I'll be visiting soon again on my own. With the town and all, you could spend a whole weekend there and not soak it all in.

We debated stopping there on the way back from Jersey but passed as I knew we'd never just be able to do a quickie tour and leave. The trip home we circled some of the places we'd stop again when we make the trek to the shore again. Faith was really impressed with what she saw of Jersey's coast and I have a feeling we'll be doing the lighthouse tours again next year.

There's a lot of history out east, enough to fill a lifetime chasing down I'm sure. Did you find any souvenirs as in the way of bullets or buttons?
