And I must say I was amazed. Its just so mind-blowing to imagine so many died there and the scale and scope of the battle! Every year our AF base hosts a cleanup of some portion of the battlefield and this year it was the "High Water Mark" of Picket's charge. Its almost unimagineable to think over 6000 men died in the fields your standing on alone... :eek: Combined with the Fall colors, it made for some amazing sights.
After that we had a "mini VIP" tour. If not for the cold rain we would have visited alot more. I think I'll be visiting soon again on my own. With the town and all, you could spend a whole weekend there and not soak it all in.
