Well I was recomended to this site, and I'm new to these forums...
I've just bought a '89 2.8L from a friend in the DFW area, no doubt it was a good buy for $650. I just couldn't get it started. After having a couple friends come over to look at it, we decided to rip off the top end and look inside. Well having the help from a friend that has a 2.8L Fiero who rebuilt that engine helped me disassemble the top end. Getting to the fuel rail we looked at the injectors and found our problem.... We might as not have any fuel injectors, grommits missing, rusted almost thru them, I mean shit might as well not have any injectors. So we replaced those and looked for more problems, so we decided that while we still had the whole top end out of the car why the hell not just port and polish the whole thing... So we did and finally got the damn thing runing and, only God knows why we had to have so many vacuum hoses on an engine! Oh yea and putting the distributer back in on TDC was just peachy too  ! After running around town for acouple weeks a guy comes to the conclusion of a 2.8L.... I need more power. I came to the idea of two mor cylinders... I came across a friend with a LT1 and tranny from a '96 Vette, wiring, computer, the whole nine yards... But realizing soon after I would have to wire up an OBD2 engine to a non-OBD2 system...
My other friend suggested a carbed 377 (400 SBC destroked), he said it would be easier to put in and bolt up, without having to worry about computers and wiring shit, but I would also run into problems that I wouldn't run into on a fuel injected engine....
Sorry about the long speech but I'm sick and tired of getting blazed by my friend's Grand Am GT..... Any ideas guys? :conf:
