in light of a friend's iroc being stolen and found in a suspected chop shop, i want to know to what extent am i able to protect my car.
what can i do? obviously i can't shoot them, but i want people to know that my stuff shouldn't be messed with.
if i had an alarm that possibly caused pain to the ears, would i be liable if there was a sticker (or other visual warning) of the possibility of hearing damage? this question applies to any other things i can think of to protect the car as well...
if there is a warning label clearly stating the possibility of damage to a would-be thief, am i liable for that damage?
i'm in ohio.

believe me, when they start choking, they will bolt faster then lightning
It's a violation of federal law to protect your property with anything that could cause serious bodily injury. Causing hearing damage could be construed as a protracted loss, which is the key element to serious bodily injury. I wouldn't do it.

tc, thanks for the info. your advice coincides with what a local police officer has told me.

What about one of those tracking system things? I saw it on techtv. You put it somewhere in your car and you can go on the internet and check out the info. Like the average speed the car has been traveling, where it is, pretty much everything. It would also be good to put on your kids car, if you've got one, then you can watch what they are doing :D

I like the idea of the removable steering wheel. Ya would think if they see it doesnt have one, they would move on (after stealing your stereo)

the removable wheel is a good idea... didn't think of that.
i think when i put fuel injection into the cars, i'll add two switches that kill power to the fuel pump as well as the ignition coil..
my friend has a dually that has a kill switch for the coil, i'm thinking of doing something similar...
just need to figure out where i would hide the switches

still a cool idea though, very similar to lojack.
