Lets say your pulled over for a speeding ticket. Can a cop in Kentucky legally force you to open the hood so he can look for racing equipment or does he need a warrent?
Can you tell him no?

I am a police officer In MD we can't ask you or force you to pop your hood unless we have reasonable suspicion, that you have a power adder in your vehicle. What would give us reasonable suspicion would be a nitrious tank, purging your vehicle in traffic etc... A cop can not make you open your trunk for no reason, unless you consent. I believe your hood would be similar in circumstance.

Would reasonable suspicion include something as simple as display of speed, or chirping gears? I mean, it is a relatively loose term.
Also, if he did have reasonable suspicion, does he still need a warrant to search the vehicle without consent?

Power adders are illegal in some states? Not here in Connecticut.

yes, that makes me think too. They can't be illegal. You can't make it a law to not have a quick car.
Now on the other hand, You are not allowed to have nitrous bottle open on the street. Which i can understand. An open nitrous bottle says you are racing.

Alll reasonablle suspicion means is that a reasonable or a person of sound mind would believe someting to be true or believe something could be true. I personallly don't think chirping gears or speeding is reasonable suspicion. Would a reasonable person come to the conclusion that a person has a power adder just because they spin tires or speed.?
