I managed 5 passes before the weather got bad. Four kills, old Ford pick-up, S-10 Blazer and two LS1 6spd birds. Neither LS1 driver could drive, one ran a 14.4 and the other a 14.01 with bad reaction times of 1.2 and .9. I lost my first race to a '72 Monte Carlo with a 502 crate engine. He ran a 12.68 @ 109. All my runs were 14.15-14.20 with the worst RT being a .62 and best a .526.
What's everyone been up to? I should get around to installing my SLP headers this weekend but who knows. I'd like to have them on by the Fall Classic.

Did ya go with the 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 headers? I picked up a 219 cam to put in this winter. They said it should be better then what I have. Lingenfelter had them on sale so I picked up one. Roy Called last ngiht and said he shipped them out and I should have them TODAY. He apologized and said when he orders something it gets shipped right from the factory but for some reason they shipped it to his warehouse and he found them in the cornor GRRRRR.... Other then that nada.

I went with the 1 3/4", I know it's probably too big for a near stock engine but in the long run it's the better route I think. Probably should have bought long tubes but we'll have to see. The headers should help lean out WOT and hopefully put me back in the 13's without the DR's and a good cool down.
Glad to hear everything is working out with the brakes. Sounds like some of the great eBay transactions I've had.

Funny you should say that cuz that's where I'm at right now. Dual cats are off, driver side manifold is off and I'm about to pull the driver side valve cover, since I can't see any way around it. Back to work! :D

Driver side header is on and I'm calling it a day. Actually wasn't bad at all once the valve cover was off. I had to move some of the brake lines a little but it only took a few minutes to get it in place. One thing of note is the approximately .025 " clearance between the steering shaft and the #3 header tube. It may need to be tweaked.

I guess I've been busy mostly with the GrandAm. Got it back knowing I had brake work to do on August 16th. Short drive home from the shop and the passenger side rotor was smoking when I parked it. Began to take it apart and found out I couldn't get any performance rotors around close so decided I'd hit Summit. Sunday 17th was the CPN show. Took the 18th off, 1st went to Midas and got my last set of warranty pads, went to Summit with Ed and got rotors. Ed bought a Harwood fiberglass hood for the Z28. Started working on it and discovered passenger caliper was toast. Only $15 with a core so bought new hardware too, but was clear I wouldn't be able to finish. Friday the 22nd got the second caliper since it was so cheap and some other stuff I needed. Got things set that Saturday, my brother came over and we bled the brakes. Test drive, finally. Brakes were great, but engine began coughing and throwing codes, but code cleared when engine was stopped and restarted. Went into Brunswick and it got worse and quit on me just as I got into a parking lot. Walked away from it and came back and it fired right up, and I feathered it home. Next day found it was still driving for 10 miles and quitting. Tried swapping ignition coils and housing and the Ignition module. No help. Had code read Monday the 25th. Injectors. This was the second set I had got from Manta, the first ones in the engine when it was delivered, were worse. Drove it home and proceeded to swap the injectors from my old motor in. Car ran much better, gave it a brutal 65 mile test drive with a lot of idling and some interstate milage and it did fine. Last Tuesday took it to work for the first time. Found A/C was not operating, had been charged, my mechanic looked at it again last week and said Condensor and Compressor are both leaking. Fine, I'll try replacing the condenser first in the spring. Did have it throw some codes and run rough again on me Sunday. I suspect the alternator which seems to have trouble keeping the voltage up in hot weather especially, and the voltage is always low when it acts up. It could also be some wiring, connector or electrial component dragging the voltage down though. Ran fine today, getting used to the 4 day work week being off the last three Mondays. I'll be changing over to Mobil1 this weekend and maybe taking it for a run sometime soon. Idle is somewhat lumpy with the W41 cams. It sounds like such a beast?

While I was working on swapping the injectors some kind of patriotic car show started up in the front lawn. Also pictured is Ed's new cowl hood.
