Wouldn't a larger pully spin the alternator slower? I think the alternator shouldn't have a problem powering just a cd player and some speakers.

I didn't have a problem with my factory alternator, 80amp until I was pushing over 2000 watts.. dosen't matter the stereo.. or how many speakers... all that matters is WATTS
how many WATTS is it? (the seperate amplifer(s). (the rated sound output.. look in the manual or online by model# if you have no idea) .. no head unit goes over 260 watts and can be completely IGNORED).. and accessories.. EQ's and pre-amps and crossovers... lol they might pull .001 amps... they are about as much of a power draw as your alarm system...
these are my reccomendations:
0-1500 watts. factory will work (I recomment at least a .5 farad capacitor if its above 1000 watts though... puts LESS stress on the battery and alternator)
1501-3000 (110-160 AMP alternator) +2nd battery (isolator req., Capacitor HIGHLY reccomended)
3001-5000 (165-200 AMP alternator) + 2nd battery (isolator req. Capacitor Required(large FARAD capacitance too))
5001+ watts (210- multiple 210AMP alternators) +multiple batteries.. lots of parts required.)
any other questions.. IM me AOL: "Malebolgia18"
