How reliable are 350 chevy's bored 40 over? Isnt it ofly close to the water jackets.

.040 over blocks are fine, I have had a few blocks that were .060 over and never had a problem with them.
Their is always the off chance that the block could have core shift, but any good machine shop can check the block.
