Can u put vortec heads on a tpi motor? Do the water outlet holes line up? If u can what type of horsepower increase do u get?

You would be better off asking at thirdgen.org. But yes you can do it but if you have TPI you will have to buy a aftermarket manifold.

Vortec heads aren't the wisest choice for a TPI engine. Simply because you need a different TPI base (intake manifold) in order for it all to fit. It costs $400 last time I heard.

You'd get more of a HP increase if you just took the $600 or so the heads cost, and the $400 for the new manifold, and got yourself a better set of heads.

As stated they will fit you just need a different manifold. As for the price i'm not sure.... I heard edelbrock is making one now though, I'm pretty sure it'd be under 400 bucks. Give jeremy a call at summit! :)

I am planning on using the vortech heads on my motor build. But, I havent decided on using the Vortech TPI manifold and after market TPI upgrades or using the TPIS miniram setup. The vortech heads are a very good choice. GM Hightech did an article on heads and rated the vortech heads best for street performance and bang for the buck. It is true that you just buy expensive heads but, then you will have high flowing heads and stock TPI equipment. If you are willing to spend the money go with the Vortech and buy the TPI Vortech manifold. You always have the choice of finding some L98 heads and have them "worked" on, and upgrade your TPI equipment. My choice is the TPIS big mouth base, SLP runners, and factory plenum (ported of course) and aftermarket 52mm TB. If you are stepping up in cam size you can go with new injectors too. I know it is bad to say but, the FORD motorsport SVO injectors are a cheap buy. They are mostly all made by Bosch anyways and Fast Chips recomends them.
