Oh! I can't take it anymore!!! The Browns just cannot move the ball at all - particularly in the red zone. I cannot believe people are actually saying this team could be playoff bound... what games are they watching? A loss like this to a 3-8 team at home REALLY HURTS.

Tim Couch - 12 for 27?!? (plus 3 pics, a fumble, 3 sacks and NO TDs) Once again, this guy cannot complete anything longer than 5 yards with any consistency.

Yeah, I've become a Couch basher. My first twitch came when he was boohooing about the crowd booing him at home. Hey, take it like a man, if you're not playing well, don't blame someone else. As a quarterback you are expected to be a team leader, not a spoiled millionaire brat who whines about the criticism. And as for crap about the line, give me a break - they are not all that bad. Put a real QB behind that line who can burn the blitz and they look like pro-bowlers to some.

I'm just extremely frustrated as a life-long Cleveland sports fan... we never seem to take that final step toward championships in this town. Damn, I'm so sick of that!!!

Sorry for venting, but it was a long time in coming...

Argh.

Yep, that was one lousy game. Too many damn mistakes. I'm looking forward to the Fiesta Bowl. Although I don't feel that OSU will be able to pull off the upset.

What made it worse was sitting through the cold to watch it. A friend of mine got tickets at the last minute and we went. What a waste of time. That was the worst game ive seen them play all year. I was getting tired of counting how many times couch threw into double coverage. At least we still have OSU to look up to.

Funny you should mention the availability of last-minute tickets...

My sister-in-law called me Saturday night to offer two seats to the game. Now, I have not been to the new stadium yet, so it was a very tempting offer. The only reason I didn't take them was due to the fact that Sunday was the one day Missy did not have to work in the last 4 days. Thank goodness I didn't have to sit through that in the cold - I feel for you Josh!

I also agree with Jay - I don't think OSU will have much of a chance against Miami, unless Clarett is healthy and tears up some yardage. Regardless of what happens in the bowl game, it was awesome going undefeated (although on a weak schedule). OSU actually made a Fiesta Bowl appearance AND beat Michigan. That never happened with Cooper! :raz:

That reminds me... the Browns usually pull off a season split with the Steelers - even with the worst of team records. The loss of both games to the Steelers this year makes this season even more of a disappointment.

So is Rob a Steelers fan, a Browns fan, or no preference? ;)

I seem to be surrounded by more and more Steelers fans... my best bud, the neighbor and Missy to name a few.

I ate my tickets and didn't go, and I'm glad I decided to do that seeing how it came out. Pathetic. Couch was flat, but the receivers weren't helping. I have to echo Chris Berman's comment "Was this the same team that beat New Orleans last week". I have to put this on the coach and offensive co-oridinator. The running game wasn't going bad and perhaps they should have run more. If they felt they had to pass and it wasn't working with Couch, why not sit him down and see if Holcomb could have got something going. Tim made too many bad decisions this week. I guess he wasn't booed much, but he would have been if I was in my seat behind the bench. Pathetic.

I booed him constantly. He gave me nothing to cheer for. With the season pretty much shot, i say put in holcomb and see what happens. Look at all the other back ups out there that are now starters. He deserves a good chance.

Uncertain going into the stadium but when the Steelers got their first first down, I was standing and cheering. Faith looks up at me and says, "Well, I guess you committed yourself now." Yeah baby!

Well Rob, I hope your Steelers do better than our Browns... I think you may need to get Maddox healthy to have any chance in the post season, however.

The Steelers are terrible. They are not going anywhere. They're just in a lousy division.

Oh, it just keeps getting better Cleveland sports fans... we can now officially say "good-bye" to Jim Thome.

I guess he proved that it's all about the money, and when it comes right down to it, he is no different than any other athlete when you flash him the green. In some ways, you cannot blame a guy, but in others you want to scream. No one believes in the old addage "there is no 'I' in TEAM" anymore.

I guess no-one has learned from history... every time one of these free agents goes off to make a huge buck, they draw all the money out of the teams purse, and the teams SUCK. Look at how well Manny and Albert fared. Then there is Texas, signing A-Rod, boy they were good this year!

Jimmy's a good guy, but I think guys like him get polluted from their dumb-ass agents. Those blood-suckers are going to put baseball in the toilet.

I dont blame him one bit. He has nothing to look forward to here. Were not going to be a winning team for a long time. He just wants a good shot at a world series ring before he retires. Philly is probably his best shot.

Yeah, you can't blame Thome for booking. They already traded the rest of the team off.

With news like that, I'm sure the ticket sales for the new farm team, The Eastlake Captains went up today...http://www.captainsbaseball.com/

I guess the thing that really burns my britches about this whole deal is that the Indians had a premonition that they would never be able to compete in the lottery for Thome as a free agent, so they brought up the idea of a trade last year in order to be able to get SOMETHING in exchange during their rebuild. Thome elected to invoke the "no trade" clause in his contract and constantly ranted about wanting to retire a Cleveland Indian... remember that daily profession?

Well, money talks and BS walks... it's all about the money. Just be a man and admit you left for the $95M. See ya' Jimbo...

i thought that i had read somewhere that cleveland was only going to offer 5 years for 60 million. thome wanted 6 years, but cleveland wouldn't budge

either way.... i don't really blame him for leaving.. how long did it take for cleveland to emerge like they did back in 95?

i think cleveland will be very empty for the next several years, and i doubt that thome would still be in the leagues by the time cleveland could field another winning team.

shapiro really shot the cleveland baseball scene down.

thing that really pisses me off, though, is that there is another jim thome in the area, lives in the same aurora neighborhood as thome. apparently they had to have police protection from some angry fans who mistakenly thought thome was actually jim thome.

to fans like that, i say :pfinger:

Well chainsaw, the total package included a 6th and 7th year for a total of somewhere in the neighborhood of $84M I heard, but years 6 and 7 were not gauranteed - they were based on performance. As a responsible business organization, it makes sense to give yourself some protection on long-term contracts.

By year six, Thome would be what, 38? At that age, would he still be playing ball? In his new situation in Phily, Jim could blow out both knees and his shoulder tomorrow (or have some other career-ending injury), and they now have to pay him for the entire contract - even if he never plays an inning.

Let's put that into perspective... do you have a guarantee in your job that says you'll receive 6 or 7 years of wages regardless of your performance or ability to work? I sure don't.

As far as the fans who elect to harass people like the Thomes - you've got my vote. There is no excuse for behavior like that. He's gone. End of story.
