Have you tried to run trouble codes.... or is your check engine light even coming on.....

It wont even run enough to set a code. I now think it is a fuel problem and I am going to do some testing to see if it is the fuel pump or and injector stuck open.

You can still read the codes though. Some codes will come up while cranking. Make sure you have a code 12 first, that means system diagnostics are working, then see if there are any others. You might try to see if you can borrow a new computer to make sure that isn't the problem, or buy one if you can return it.

You might also try to get down by the tank to see if you can hear the fuel pump running while someone else cranks it.

I know you said you've checked the timing about a hundred times but I don't think you said if you used a light or not. Maybe if you can get a timing light you can check the timing while someone is cranking it to make sure.

May also want to try a compression test just for the hell of it, I know you didn't mention messing with anything that could screw that up, but since nothing else worked so far...

good luck

BTW, I think the fuel pump is supposed to pump about 80 psi before the regulator, but as long as it's more than is going through the regulator, it should be fine.

well it was setting a code 42, but that was before I replaced the ignition module. As far as the fuel pump running, I can hear it from the front seat when I turn the car on.

On the timming, I set the timming with a light to about 6*, so it should be close enough to start.

So far, I know that I am not getting the right fuel pressure at the schrader valve. So with out the right pressure, something has to be bad in the fuel system.

Im going to check at the fuel lines for the pressure and let you guys know.

I had the same problem with my 86. It turned out to be the ignition module had a wire undone. Plugged it in and fired right up. Took me two weeks to figure it out!!!! And it did the same things yours is doing.

Yeah, I am thinking it is a bad connection at the module. I think the 4-wire connector is broke inside or in just not plugging up.

I will check it and see if that is the problem. I have checked it to see if it seats when I plug it in, but it may be a wire or terminal.

found the problem.. It was the 4-wire terminal that goes to the module. The plastic was twisted bad and would not make connection or seat properly in the module.

Thanks for the advice guys. Hopefully I can get my 3.73 gears in and get to the track before bad weather. I will post times as soon as I can.

Yeah, I had to cut the old one off and buy a new one from GM for 28 bucks. I could get one from a wreck, no one would cut the harness. Hell, I just glad to get her going again. Im going to set the timing tonight, and maybe wire up my tach.
