I'm looking at an RS+ For Sale in my town and if I sell my '87 Monte Carlo soon I may buy it if it's in good shape. But I had a question though, it's a '90 RS+. I was always under the impression that the RS was a V6, RS+ was 305 and then the rest. But I guess that's because my friend used to have an RS+ and that's what he told me since his had a 305 in it. It's only $1995.00 and besides a dent on a fender the body is in very very good shape. Interior looks pretty nice too.

I haven't drove it yet so I dunno about how good it drives. Just seems a little cheap even if it is a V6. It's an auto too, btw. Can anyone help me out?

edit: Oh yeah, I tried searching but the stupid vbb doesn't like words under 3 letters and "+" doesn't count as one.

It's probabaly priced about right. Most 3rdgen's, especially 6 cylinders, don't bring that much money. I know I gave a thousand dollars for my 88 TAand all that was wrong with it was a blown up motor and needed painting. And it had the 350 w/auto tranny, digital dash, 4 wheel discs, almost all the options you could get on a TA

How hard is it for a 3.1L -> 350 engine swap? Would the 3.1 come with a 200-4R or 700? I might buy it now and just drive it because its in very nice shape just to save gas and then later on consider a swap.

The 3.1 has a 700-r4, at least if it's an automatic, but the bellhousing bolt pattern is different so you would have to get a V8 tranny

You may have to change the front springs too.

Hmm... Can't you get another bellhousing for one, or would I just have to swap the entire trans? I read a bit on a the swap a few minutes ago. Springs, radiator, trans, engine, computer (if its not carb'd), mounts, etc. Doesn't sound as hard as I thought.

The bellhousing is not removable on the 700-r4. :(

Damn. Oh well, just checked and saw that the V6 on the '90 model is 140HP/180ft-lbs. That's not too bad. I was afraid it'd be something like the 107HP like the old carb'd 2.8's. Might not be too bad until I could afford the swap. I have to buy the car first ;)
