Hey- I'm new to the board, and I was wondering if 4th gen wheels will fit on my 86z. I heard they only will fit with a spacer. Is that true?

yea i'm pretty sure and i'm almost positive its a 2" spacer. Its because the backspacings are different. I wasnt sure about it either so i tried my friends 97TA ws6 wheels they were 17x9 and it hit the bump stops in the back so yea i'm pretty sure u need 2" spacers.

Thanks, cuz I saw an SLP ad in Super Chevy for 4 16x8 firebird take-off wheels with tires (245/50/ZR16) for $549. Thought it would be kinda cool. :raz:

you need bolt on wheel spacers...

ask ragtop or notmybfz28 in the lounge... they're both using them with 4thgen camaro rims.... they both have slightly diff sizes, but thats because even though they have the same rims, they chose diff tires....

personally, i like ragtops overall combo best... but theres nothing wrong with notmybfz28s

post in the lounge... im sure they're both be happy to post pics.. :D

If you are planning to build some horsepower you might want to think about swapping a 4th gen rear end to prevent a weak spot in your drive train.

Yeah.. it'd be nice, but since money's tight, I'll be rollin on my stock 15's for a while (gotta buy a new winter vehicle) :(

Trust me, after going through 4 rear ends in my 93 i KNOW that 4th gen rears are no better. My friend has a set of 17x9.5" ZR-1 wheels on his 91 Vert and he uses spacers, I am not sure what size, his name is Bad406Z
