I have a 2000 Z28 that my soon to be ex-wife totalled a year ago and I was wondering if the 3.42 gears will interchange in my '92 Z rearend?????? I was going to put the whole rearend in the car, but am leaning more twords just a gear change. Does anyone know if this will work?

you're better off asking in the lounge.

You can use the posi unit and the gears in your car since you have the 28 spline axles.

Just swapping the rear will be 100% easier and costs 100% less as well.

Just swapping the rear would be easier. You can either buy new wheels or use the 2 off of your fourth gen and your front stock ones. Or you can spend money on some adapters for the front and use your fourth gen wheels on the front too. Or you can just swap the posi unit and gears for free.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping the axle spline number was the same, I'm glad someone knew.

Trust me, swapping the rear will save you a LOT of headaches. We all know how if you accidently are off on the gear setup then you get the nice whine for all of eternity

And look like shit!........
Yes the posi unit and gears will work. The used posi units that SLP sells for $99.99 for our cars are out of 4th gens..
