I guess we should start with suggesting some dates. Im up for any weekend. Probably sometime in september. Any thoughts?

I can't make it the weekend of the 6th thru the 8th...nor the 1st, a Sunday, either

Josh, congrats on your new pad! Looks like this thread has gotten buried though so I thought I'd bring it back TTT. I'm wide open tomorrow, Sunday I'll be seeing if the Browns can keep their helmets on. Next weekend I have a noon appointment on Saturday, but am otherwise free. The final weekend I have a rehearsal in Akron 6-9 PM on Saturday and another car club I hang with is having a meeting in Cinti which I probably won't go to since the rehearsal breaks the weekend up and it's a long way to go back and forth on the same day. So let's get a date picked before the nice days slip away from us. October weekends look OK also, but be nice to do this in Sept. B4 it gets any colder.

How does next saturday sound then? After you noon appointment.

It's OK with me. Don't know if any of the group are going to the F-bod gathering in Bowling Green that weekend. What's everyone think about Saturday the 21st in the afternoon? You have a particular site in mind Josh?

My1stCamaro92RS

For now that looks good for me as well

87IROC Z
09-13-2002, 03:23 PM
Nothing in particular. But there are some nice places around by me in the metroparks. John should know of them too. I was thinking of maybe Wallace lake. I take it you know the place John? Any other suggestions?

I have a 25th weddign anniversery to go to.

Wallace Lake is right around the corner for us, but if something more central is desired, that's fine too. Since Matt is tied up and as I think about it, Ed may find out he has to work, maybe next Sunday would be better? May be tough to find a day with no conflicts, but we should try and get one with the fewest I guess...

Next sunday works for me too. Im pretty much open any day.

My concrete pour was cancelled this past Saturday because of the friggin' rain and lightning bolts! :(

As you may have guessed - it's been rescheduled for this Saturday. Don't know how long it will take to finish it, but Sunday would be better for me.

As others have posted before, when a date is set, please post it. We'll see who can make it and who cannot. We can always get another date planned as well for those of us who may miss this one. :D

So far it looks like this coming sunday is working out best for everyone.

09-18-2002, 08:26 AM
Yeah, looks like Sunday is looking pretty good. Speedy, can you make it? Anyone else we haven't heard from? Just so I'm not the only 4th Gen, would it be OK if we invited Gabe? I think a number of you know him. I don't think Greg gets on the board much, can someone call him and see if he's up for it? Who else might we be over-looking?

My1stCamaro92RS
09-18-2002, 12:55 PM
I'll email Greg and let him know..but I need more details as to where and when. He may not be able to view the boards here as I don't think he ever registered.

largefish
09-18-2002, 01:10 PM
Well Josh started the thing, so I guess it's his call, but we were talking about Wallace Lake last I remember, and I'm guessing like maybe starting 1 PM? Later? Josh?

87IROC Z
09-18-2002, 05:46 PM
Wallace lake sounds good. As long as that works for everyone. Like i said, anytime is fine for me. So its really up to the people who have stuff to do. Im free all day sunday.

Directions please and what's there to do at the lake??? swimming, boating, what? Grills available?

Clueless in Painesville here

largefish
09-18-2002, 07:00 PM
I can't remember if there are Grills or not. Swimming is allowed. I'll swing by and refresh.

Also Car Show at the Commons at 5 is very close by if that's of interest.

87IROC Z
09-19-2002, 03:00 AM
Yup, they have grills and tables setup. Pavillions and restrooms too. You can fish and swim. Plus like john said, that berea show is just 2 minutes around the corner from wallace lake. Im not really good at giving directions, so ill let john handle that one. :D

Sounds good guys, the wife and I are planning on making it. Unless she has the baby between now and then.

largefish
09-19-2002, 07:39 AM
Yeah, there are like 15-20 grills in the clusters of tables closest to the pavillion. They also operate a snack bar in the pavillion. I think the restrooms may have lockers for swimmers also.
So what time everyone? I can get there early and get fires going in a 2-3 grills if I know when we
should plan to eat. There's also a large field suitable for playing catch, frisbee, football, volleyball, whatever. There's a bunch of benches surrounding the beach area also. Well that's it for the scouting report...

Directions? Close to downtown Berea, and connected to S. Rocky River Drive via North Quarry drive right near Buccis Restaurant. Further North the Park road hooks up with Bagley Road if you chose to come I-71 or 237. If you take 237 past the Airport, bear right at the Y below Sheldon Road which will take you down N. Rocky River. Turn right on Bagley and then quickly left on the park road. The entrance is on the W. side of the park road and there is a large sandstone wheel with Wallace Lake carved in it near the entrance to the parking lot. If you are coming from the South, the park road hooks up with S. Quarry (goes over to Prospect, 237 just north of the pike overpass) and then connects with Eastland Road and eventually Pearl Rd (42). If you come via the Pike get off at exit 10 and take the Pearl Road ramp (furthest on the right) and then head left, South towards Strongsville and then the park entrance will be on the right very soon after that. It bends around to become Eastland road and eventually you enter the Park with a left off of Eastland just before a river ford.

As for a time anything works for me. Whatevers best for everyone else. Also, how are we working out food and stuff? I take it just have everyone bring something.

largefish
09-19-2002, 08:43 AM
BYO should work easiest. Deserts and salads to share would widen the variety I guess. I'll put down my wife for a desert, maybe a Taco dip too. hehehehe... A main dish either made or to grill. And of course, beverages. Not sure what the alcohol policy is, but I'll probably just do caffine injected soda.

87IROC Z
09-19-2002, 09:02 AM
Sounds good. If worst comes to worst we can just go over to giant eagle around the corner.

I sure hope there's only ONE Wallace Lake. :D

Sounds like noon is gonna work well. I'll try and come right over after mass, about 11:30 and see about getting at least one grill going. I wonder if I can park a car over by the tables, probably not. Have to make sure I have batteries for a boom box as I'll want to at least listen to the Browns game some, starting at 1 PM. Weather looks better on Sunday, and I've heard some parts of some of the parks will be in no-cars mode on Saturday, so good thing we don't have that to deal with. Oh, just noticed Brian said Saturday, nix on that, it's Sunday, hope you can make it...

I just got off the phone with Greg and he is sure he has to work Sunday but they haven't told him the hours yet. If he's able, he'll attend. I gave him my cell phone # to check in with us that day.

I'm planning on bring charcoal, lighter, untensils, foil, probably either bratwurst or burgers, a taco dip w/ chips, maybe a desert... Brian, I'm planning on listening to the game there. The TV announcers aren't as good and you can tape it if threre's something you gotta see...

might as well count me out because I just found out that I have to work sunday. I have no clue what time I'll be out. The big boss is in from Germany and were still trying to finish all of our fills and clean up and stuff. Damn, I'm really disappointed. Sorry

A couple sites i checked said no rain.

largefish
09-21-2002, 12:37 PM
I checked again and you can back a car up right behind tables in a few places so that should take care of playing the Browns coverage. As far as I know it's supposed to be sunny tomorrow. If it rains we'll probably have to cancel or move to somewhere with a pavillion. Oh I'll also bring cheese for the burgers which I think I'm opting for over the brats. Also I guess I'll bring pickles and condiments. And I plan on bringing some diet pop.

I'll be cutting the expansion joints in the concrete with my brother-in-law at 12:00. Should not take more than an hour, but I'll be running late.

I'm trying to get the wife to join me... is there anything in particular I (we) should bring?

John, the dessert your wife made, gawd it was delicious, what was in it? I tried describing it to Faith but...whats the recipe?

largefish
09-27-2002, 07:21 AM
Rob, It's real simple to make, too. I'll get the recipe from Daralyn and post it. I've got to drag her over to the 'pute so she can see young Joshua's photo also. Just realized we didn't take any pics at the picnic. Had the camera in the car. Oh well, guess you had to be there... :D

1 21 oz. can of Pie Filling (Daralyn uses Cherry)
1 White Cake Mix
1 Stick Margarine
1/4 cup Chopped Nuts
8" or 9" Square Pan

Spread pie filling on bottom of pan. Melt Margarine. In large bowl mix together with your hands the dry cake mix, nuts and melted margarine.
This is to be crumbly (not like a batter). Crumble this over the pie filling. Bake at 350* 35-40 minutes 'til slightly brown. Best served warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. For a larger batch, double ingredients and use a 13 X 9 pan, increase baking time slightly.
