Removing my A.I.R., questions.

I have an 87 305 TPI w/ the V-belt system, I currently have my smog pump belt off and I am wondering if I could undo my A.I.R system "the big black box etc." and still run fine, I have to take emissions but not for another 11 months, and I really want to clean up my engine bay. could I take it off and put it back on next year when I have to take emissions?

I took mine off, but I don't have emissions testing, just visual inspection. It will still run fine without it. AutoZone has some little pipe plugs that are perfect for putting in the holes in the exaust manifold. IIRC the 3/8" is what you need. Just make sure you put some anti-sieze on them if you ever want to take them out again.
