If I doubled the speed limit and got cought by the cops, would I lose my licence?

if you were in a 20 mph zone, most likely no. if you were in a 55 mph.......in most states.......it's a good bet. but i'm sure a lawyer+$$$ can make sure you won't.

Every state may be different. In south carolina you can go to jail for ANY traffic violation. However you will prolly NEVER see someone go to jail for not useing a turn signal or going 5mph over the posted limit. Double the speed limit is considered wreckless driving and you lose 6 points of the 12 points you have. After losing all 12 points you will lose your d/l. Wreckless driving or getting clocked in the triple digits is one of the only traffic offenses where an officer will choose to take you to jail. Say if you were going 45 in a 20mph zone a you probabily wont get hooked up. But if your going 120 in a 70mph zone you will most likley go to county lock up..... DUI for example is one of the only traffic offenses where you automaticially lose your d/l. Or either being under age and caught with some illegal drinks or drugs.
I have NO idea about Canada and i dont believe we have any 'mounties' in here to answer your question.... :) For all i know, they will sentance you to 5 lashes with a maple tree branch.
