Alright. I got a ticket 2 1/2 years ago, got the 3 month supervision and the ticket's off my record. Now my question is it really off my record? When I get pulled over (hey it happens, I have a loud car and a lot of bored cops in my town) and they ask me if I have gotten any other tickets I tell them I got one over 2 years ago because I didn't want to lie.
Granted, I live in Illinois and none of you seem to be in the area, but I'm curious. Would that ticket still show from Jan 00 eventhough I completed my supervision? It would be nice when I get pulled over to be able to tell a cop my record is clean and that I haven't gotten any tickets.
I figure if I get pulled over the cop might think twice about writing a ticket to a guy that has been a good driver thus far.
-------------
One more question I have is that it's illegal to run no front plates on cars in IL. I got pulled over for it and the officer said that he's giving me a warning but it's in the computer now so if I get pulled over again I'm getting a ticket. If that's the case why didn't I receive a warning on paper instead of just a verbal warning if he actually did enter it in the computer, or was he just trying to scare me?
Thanks for your help.
People forget tickets. Just tell them you don't think so. That way if something is found, you can go "oh yeah, I forgot about that one, I thought it was dismissed" if he finds it. If he doesn't find it, you're cool.

Most people, for the most part, remember that they have received tickets. For the average joe, I would assume they've gotten a few within a 10 year span. However, if you're constantly getting tickets, there's no doubt that you can remember all of them.
If asked, I would prefer someone telling me the truth than someone trying to lie to me.

I used to live in Naperville. I went to NCHS, then moved after I
graduated in 2000.
Here's my story/experience with Naperville police:
My alternator died on me on the way to school one day. I had to wait with the cop that showed up (cool guy) for the tow truck. He ran my plates anyways, and the week before I had my plates run by three or four cops at the same time because I was doing dounuts in the Hollywood Video parking lot at Naper and 75th (worked there). Not only did he see the three or four times that those guys ran the plates, but he also saw the yellow light ticket and the stop sign ticket that I had recieved over a couple of months prior. So when they run your plates they can "see" your history. I don't know how long that stays in their system though. Maybe a moderator on here could help with that.
I would just let the guy know that the last time you got a ticket was over two years ago. But why would they ask you when the last time you had a ticket was? I've never been asked that. Not even in Colorado, where I live now. I've had my plates run/been pulled over a grand total of about 6 different times and have never been asked that question. Four of those times were in Naperthrill.
Anybody else been asked that question?

Jesse

I got stopped for a dead brake light one day. When the officer asked if I had been pulled over recently, I said "not in a long time" He then asked exactly how long and I replied "a year or so" The officer then starts laughing!! He then tells me that when people say they havn't been pulled over in a long time he usually has answers in the 5-10 year range. I said to him that I am young(ish) and drive a bright red car... what do you expect?! He was cool about it.
I know they can see how many times your info has been checked. I think it's perminant... or at least a few years.
