i got a question why is window tint so illegal i mena half the time during the summer windows are down , just have them take it off during the winter i mean why is wondow tint so illegal

I dont know why dark tint was outlawed. But i bet i have the right idea. Lots of reasons from a saftey hazard of the drivers ability to see which leads to the saftey of other motorists. To even police officer saftey.
Now if an old person or someone with bad vision gets 5% tint, that would be an accident waiting to happen. Half of the drivers are dumb anyway and would get tint even if it did affect their driving ability so therfore for the best intrest for the public its illegal tio have a certain degree of darkness set fourth by your county or state.......
Another issue is police officer saftey, not everyones exactly a straight arrow that goes to church every sunday, some people are dangerous criminals that would use tint at their advantage to harm a cop. Say if they had a weapon the cop might not see it until its to late do to the tint. So tinting laws serves its purpose.

I know it sucks for us honest people. But you cant tell your next door neighbor who happens to have numerous assaults on police officer chargers and a few armed robbery charges he cant have 20% tint on his 1989 Cutless 'drive by' looking car with 20 inch rims, then let mr.sunday school teacher across the street tint his 2001 Honda Accord Family sedan with 20% becaus the laws have to apply to everyone.

Yea it does. The scale of law should never tip to one side in favor of ANYONE. Im just to hard headed and went with the darkest tint possible. If i get a ticket, I will deal with it.:shrug: Not many automobile laws are enforced in sc anyway, tint laws you will never get pulled for that reason alone, the only time any one would pull you becaus of tint is if they want to actually pull you for something else but need a reason to stop ya, same with loud exhaust, or all those stupid neon lights and body parts ricers like to weld on there cars. my windows are BLACKED out like crazy and when i pass by cops they dont ever give me a second look. Same in my bothers saturn that has illegal tint.... If SC ever started to crack down on the tint laws, id have to fix mine..

We don't have a meter to measure it & just looking at it wouldn't hold up in court (at least here).

If the windshield is covered though, different story, since state statute covers that::: Nothing below 5 inches of AS1 line whichever is shorter.
